Our dance instuctor is Felix Cheetham, a choreographer, master drummer, facilitator and performer. Felix started his music and dance career in Ghana at a young age, and performed with the National Dance Company of Ghana. Felix continues to share his love of music and dance by facilitating dance and drum workshops with a range of particpants and regulalry perfoms with a troupe of dancers at a variety of events.
Felix draws on the rich and diverse dance traditions from West Africa. The variety of steps and rhythms taught will be exciting and vigorous. The class begins with a warm up that is designed to improve flexibility, strengthen the core, improve stamina and get acquainted with the sound of the drum. This is followed by an extensive breakdown of technique to learn the steps to a particular dance, the class ends with a cool down.
Comfortable clothing and a bottle of water is essential, but more importantly - BE PREPARED TO SWEAT AND HAVE FUN!
