Advanced Mental Health First Aid Training: Islamic Psychology Certificate

(Segregated Event - Seperate Entrances)

(Eclectic House – UK | Internationally Accredited Programme)

In a world facing an unprecedented mental health crisis, the need for immediate, accessible, and culturally grounded support has never been greater. While mental health awareness has grown globally, Muslim communities continue to face a significant gap in care — often navigating distress through systems that do not fully recognise their spiritual worldview, values, or lived realities.

Conventional secular approaches separate the mind from the soul. This fragmentation can leave Muslims more vulnerable — struggling to articulate their experiences, misunderstood in clinical settings, or disconnected from faith as a source of healing. As a result, many individuals fall between the gaps: underserved, unsupported, and unseen.

This is where the Advanced Mental Health First Aid Training: Islamic Psychology Certificate steps in.

Developed in the UK by Eclectic House, this pioneering and internationally accredited programme represents a first-of-its-kind approach to advanced mental health first aid rooted in Islamic Psychology.

Drawing deeply from the classical tradition — particularly the works of Imam al-Ghazali — alongside contextualised psychological understanding, this course seeks to reclaim mental health through a holistic, faith-aligned lens.

It is designed to equip participants with the ability to recognise, respond to, and support individuals experiencing psychological distress at the frontline level, across healthcare, education, workplace, and community environments.

Rather than relying solely on abstract theory, this training provides clear, practical, and spiritually grounded tools to offer immediate support, stabilise individuals in distress, and confidently signpost them to appropriate services when needed.

Why This Training Matters Today
  • Muslim communities often lack culturally and spiritually appropriate mental health support
  • Many individuals experience stigma, misdiagnosis, or disengagement from care systems
  • Secular models can overlook the role of faith, purpose, and spirituality in healing
  • There is a critical need for frontline responders who understand both psychology and Islam
  • Early intervention can prevent escalation into severe mental health crises

This course directly addresses these challenges by bridging the gap between faith, psychology, and real-world care systems, empowering participants to become a vital first point of support within their communities.

Course Focus & Structure

Within this focused four-hour training, participants will:

  • Explore one core Eclectic House Wellbeing Framework in depth, gaining a practical model for understanding and responding to distress
  • Learn and apply 4 out of the 10 Principles (Dimensions) of Wellbeing, carefully selected for their relevance to mental health first aid
  • Understand true definitions of wellbeing
  • A deep dive on stress, anxiety and early depression
  • Develop a clear, faith-aligned language to understand wellbeing, distress, resilience, and recovery
  • Gain practical skills to identify early signs of mental health challenges and respond effectively

This structured approach ensures depth, clarity, and immediate applicability — without overwhelming participants.

What You Will Gain

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Provide early-stage mental health support rooted in Islamic Psychology
  • Respond to distress with compassion, confidence, and clarity
  • Understand mental health through a holistic lens (psychological, emotional, behavioural, and spiritual)
  • Recognise modern stressors such as burnout, identity struggles, and trauma
  • Apply practical wellbeing tools in real-life situations
  • Maintain ethical boundaries and confidently signpost to appropriate services
  • Strengthen both personal resilience and the ability to support others

A Unique and Urgent Contribution

This is more than a course — it is a response to a growing global need.

By training individuals in Islamically grounded mental health first aid, this programme helps build stronger, more resilient communities where support is:

  • Immediate (frontline response)
  • Relevant (faith and culture aligned)
  • Responsible (professionally and ethically sound)

It empowers participants to become bridges between individuals in distress and formal systems of care, ensuring no one is left unsupported.
