The University of Queensland Frazer Institute is pleased to offer a Winter Course in Advanced Immunology at the Translational Research Institute (TRI) in Wooloongabba.
Course will be run using COVID-safe practices.
The course offers:
Advanced instruction in immunology
An opportunity to hear from international leaders and rising stars in the field of immunology including:
- Professor Di Yu, Frazer Institute
- Professor Ranjeny Thomas, Frazer Institute
- Professor Gabrielle Belz, Frazer Institute
The opportunity to win a Frazer Institute Honours Scholarship in Immunology, valued at $3500*
Registration information:
Registration is completed by selecting the Tickets option (upper right) where your ticket can be selected and registration details provided.
Ticket options:
- Lectures + Practical ($200 + GST) - Available to enrolled undergraduate students from any university.
- Lectures only component: includes all lectures ($150 + GST) - Available to external attendees.
- Lectures only component ($100 + GST) - Available to UQ staff and enrolled undergraduate or postgraduate students at any university. RISQ option available for UQ staff and students.
- Lectures only component using RISQ option available for UQ staff and students.
Please note: If you are a postgraduate student and would like to be waitlisted for any vacancies in the 'Lectures + Practical' course, please contact [email protected]. Enrol for the 'Lectures only' course and you will be notified if a place in the practical course becomes available.

- B-cells - B-cell Tolerance and antibody production
- Dendritic cells and antigen processing/presentation
- Microbiome/immune/environment interactions
- Natural Killer Cells
- Innate Lymphoid Cells
- Macrophages and infection
- Dendritic cells and antigen targeting
- Tumour immunotherapy
- Autoimmunity and tolerance
- Bench to bedside
Seminars based on current research around:
- Cancers, such skin, lung, breast, ovarian cancers
- Autoimmune pathologies, such as arthritis, inflammatory bowel diseases, psoriasis, type 1 diabetes
- COVID-19
- Development, such as embryology
- Vaccination and drug development
Technology seminars:
- Fundamentals of flow cytometry
- Spatial technologies
- Microscopy imaging
- Humanised mouse models
Practical course (afternoons) will include:
- Cell culture
- ELISA
- Fluorescence microscopy
- Luciferase assay
- Flow cytometry
- Live cell imaging
- Data analysis
- Data presentation
*Frazer Institute Honours Scholarship in Immunology eligibility criteria: To be eligible for a Frazer Institute Honours Scholarship in Immunology you must be eligible to undertake Honours at UQ and enrol in an immunology themed Honours program at Frazer Institute within 1 year of the scholarship being awarded.
