The service is being held at the Queensland Maritime Museum at South Bank Brisbane, on the back deck of the HMAS Diamantina.This year marks the 79th anniversary of the execution of the captured Z Special Unit (SRD) members of Operation Rimau by the Japanese on 7th of July 1945.
Operation Rimau commenced in September 1944, however we traditionally commemorate it on the 7th of July each year.
We will also be commemorating all Australian Commandos & Special Forces operatives from WW2 to today as we combine 'Op Rimau Day' with 'Commando & Special Forces Day'.
After the ceremony members are welcome to join us at the Ship Inn for lunch.
