Course Description
This course is aimed at surgeons with experience in managing humeral condylar fracture (HCF) and humeral intracondylar fissure (HIF), who wish to deepen their understanding of the aetiopathogenesis, biology and biomechanics these conditions, and develop their clinical decision-making and practical skills. Course content will be delivered through a combination of didactic presentations, case-based “fireside” discussions, and wet-lab practicals.
Key Learning Objectives
- Improved knowledge of current literature regarding aetiopathogenesis, natural history, and treatment options for HIF in predisposed breeds, including Spaniels and French bulldogs.
- Improved practical skills in surgical approaches to the humeral condylar fractures.
- Understanding and practical application of strategies for managing chronic condylar fractures, malunion condylar fractures and complex dicondylar fractures.
- Understanding and practical application of strategies for managing complications of HIF and HCF
- Use of anatomic bone plates for the humeral condyle, and the humeral intracondylar stabilisation and repair system
