Ready to advance your crochet skills? Learn how to make your own pattern into a stunning lightweight lace filet crochet project.
About this Event

Ready for a new crochet technique? In this 5 week class you will learn filet crochet, a beautiful and tedious technique used to make lace like designs. We will start with a small design and then customize your own image into a pattern. Students will have the option to add on to their pattern to make a dress, shirt, or scarf. Students with crochet knowledge and experience are the ideal candidate.

Who You Are: You are comfortable with crochet and following a pattern. Students must know how to double crochet. Students will learn garment construction and how to make a garment with their own measurements.

Class Structure: Hands on crochet class led by textile lover, Keelin Maloney. Students will meet with 8 other students for 5 mondays from 6-8pm

Class Curiculum:

Class 1: Cover the basic pattern for filet crochet. We will be getting comfortable with how the pattern works and begin a small 20x20 heart.

Class 2: Compare heart projects and begin talking about ideal images for final projects. We will input and print images and talk about the end goals. Do you want a wall hanging, shirt, dress, scarf? We will be taking measurements.

Class 3: Work week, finalize images and patterns

Class 4: Work week, begin to talk about finishings

Class 5: Finishing, borders, seaming, steaming, admiring!

Participant Outcomes: Participants will be advancing their crochet skills by learning garment construction and customizing patterns! They will walk away with a family heirloom.
