Mike will provide information from various sources related to bias and unconscious bias. Ideas will be presented on how we as individuals and as organizations can take steps to overcome bias. A deeper dive is offered into how we as appraisers can address bias and prejudice in valuation. As appraisers we can reduce bias by paying attention, having a clear intention to address bias, and take specific actions to reduce bias. These elements are being offered for your consideration for you to be proactive in this area in the future.

Speaker Details
Mike Gregory (ASA, CVA) is the founder of Michael Gregory Consulting, LLC in 2011 focusing on mediation and negotiation conflict resolution regarding valuation with the IRS and others. He helps clients that want to grow faster and more effectively by taking advantage of The Collaboration Effect® based on neuroscience. The Collaboration Effect enhances relationships, resources, and revenues. At the IRS Mike headed up business valuation nationally for 11 of his 28 years and he served on the Equal (now Equity) Employment Opportunity and Diversity Committee (EEODC) for the Commissioner of the IRS Large Business and International for two appointments where payouts were complaints were reduced 90% and payouts were reduced 70% during his tenure. Mike is relying on his 12 books and over 55 articles coupled with current research in this area having taught organizations hundreds of times on this and similar topics associated with The Collaboration Effect. Mike brings a unique perspective to this topic that participants find engaging, relevant, and entertaining.
Mike served on the ASA Business Valuation Committee, has chaired the Ethics and Oversight Board with the National Association of Certified Valuators and Analysts, is a member of the Minnesota State Bar Association Alternative Dispute Resolution Section and is a qualified mediator with the Minnesota Supreme Court. Mike has a BS from Valparaiso University, a MS from the University of Wisconsin at Madison, and an MBA from DePaul University.
