About this Event
An exciting opportunity has arisen in Plymouth City Centreā¦
The Plymouth Athenaeum Society are inviting collaborators to partner with them to develop a high quality, inclusive, accessible and diverse cultural offer for the city centre. The Society holds the Athenaeum Building in trust for the community. They are aware that it is an amazing asset which is not currently being fully realised. They intend to change that and they want to ensure those who will benefit from it reopening are part of the process of visioning its future.
At this event, you will:
- hear about the plan and timescale to redevelop the building. We want ALL spaces open for ALL kinds of users.
- hear about the vision for a culturally diverse events programme and hospitality offer. We want to work with a range of providers who will play an active role in planning and delivery.
- hear about the pop-up events we intend to run from Autumn 2024. We want to get your ideas about the kind of content, pricing and schedule which will encourage you through the doors.
- be asked for feedback on what you have heard. We want to know what we are getting right, where there is room for improvement and what else could work well here.
- hear about how you can get more involved by becoming a Friend of the Athenaeum. This building exists for the community. It will take community engagement to ensure that its future is sustainable and longlived.
This event is part of a feasiblity study, led by , and . We have received funding from and you can find out more on our page.
