ACEC-CT is excited to present its April program featuring three ACEC Emerging Leaders from AECOM, AI Engineers, and CDM Smith. This engaging morning session will spotlight their impact and how they are contributing to our industry.
Attendees will hear from each presenter on the following topics:
Windsor Locks Railroad Station Track Improvements
The Windsor Locks Railroad Station Track Improvements Project is currently under construction as part of the Connecticut Department of Transportation’s Hartford Line Rail Program. The project will support service to the newly constructed Windsor Locks Station and improve passenger rail operations by allowing for increased train speeds and service frequency along the New Haven-Hartford-Springfield corridor. Work includes track and signal upgrades, construction of two new interlockings, several culvert replacements, a new Amtrak Maintenance-of-Way Yard, and a Pedestrian Bridge over the Windsor Locks Canal.
Metropolitan District Commission (MDC) Accelerated Sewer Infrastructure Rehabilitation
The Metropolitan District Commission (MDC) has numerous ongoing sewer infrastructure rehabilitation projects to reduce combined sewer overflows (CSO) and renew existing infrastructure. Since 2018, the MDC has performed a myriad of mainline and lateral sewer infrastructure rehabilitation and thousands of public outreach efforts. The MDC has a long history of partnership with CDM Smith on all aspects of their sewer infrastructure work. This presentation will provide an overview of the current Accelerated Sewer Infrastructure Rehabilitation engagement with CDM Smith with a particular focus on managing and tracking the associated data by creating an online tracking system.
Practical Ways AI Is Being Incorporated Into Engineering Practice
Engineering organizations are increasingly incorporating AI and emerging technologies to enhance efficiency, data analysis, and operational decision-making. However, the successful adoption of these tools requires a structured approach to cybersecurity, data governance, and risk management.
