Hallie Stern is a computational social scientist that specializes in digital identity, counter data-surveillance, and cybersecurity. As the AI and Technology Policy Translation Fellow at the McCain Institute, she leads projects addressing algorithmic threats, with her research featured at Harvard, the Nobel Prize Summit, the UN, and RightsCon. Her award-winning work on cognitive security, recognized by the International Forum on Digital Democracy, informs strategies on election security, algorithmic bias, and disinformation, with publications in Wired, the Center for American Progress, and the Global Disinformation Index.A trusted advisor to U.S. defense agencies, NATO, and the Department of Defense, Hallie has contributed to the EU’s EEAS and EU VS Disinfo programs. She is a David L. Boren National Security Fellow, founder of Terra Optica, and is launching a firm focused on red teaming AI threats. Hallie also serves on the Integrity Institute’s AI Working Group, INSA’s Technology Working Group, and the Information Professionals Association. She holds a B.A. from the University of Redlands and an M.S. in Global Security from NYU.
