About this Event

How have new immigrants been able to access healthcare and support around Washington, D.C.? Join the museum for a talk about the history and current state of wellbeing of D.C.’s Latino communities. Mary’s Center founder Maria Gomez, Clinica del Pueblo Chief Program Officer Suyanna Barker, and oral historian José Centeno-Meléndez will participate in a conversation moderated by David M. Rubenstein Curator of Philanthropy Amanda Moniz.


See museum collection objects out of storage that highlight health stories from D.C.’s Latino communities and visit the Giving in America exhibit’s thematic section “A Story of Community” focused on the founding and evolution of Mary’s Center.

The museum is located on the National Mall at Constitution Avenue, N.W., between 12th and 14th Streets, Washington, D.C.

The museum is accessible via the Smithsonian- National Mall and Federal Triangle Metro stations on the Blue, Orange, and Silver lines.

Museum entrances are located on Constitution Avenue on the first floor and Madison Drive (National Mall) on the second floor. There may be a short wait to enter the building.
