ACT is an evidence-based, 3rd wave Cognitive Behavioral therapy for a wide range of mental health issues, such as depression, anxiety, trauma, and chronic pain. ACT embraces change through acceptance of what cannot be changed. If one cannot "get rid of" mental health symptoms, then what? ACT focuses on fully living a value-filled life with all the pain and messiness that requires.
Though out this interactive and introspective training, participants will be challenged to learn ACT through applying ACT strategies to themselves. Participants should attend with a willingness to be honest and genuine in the spirit of living their own value of becoming an incredible therapist.
This 2-day training is for providers new to the model or wanting to deepen understanding of ACT in order to provide in individual or group formats.
About the trainers:
Ren Stinson, PhD, ABPP is a board certified clinical psychologist in private practice in Iowa City, Iowa. He provides clinical services, consultation, and training in the US and internationally, specializing in psychological trauma and multicultural psychology. Ren specializes in providing Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). He provides workshops and training in DBT and ACT for health care providers in the US, Japan, and several other countries.
Laura Meyers, PhD, ABPP, directs the DBT program and PTSD treatment team at the Orlando VA and provides trainings and consultation through the META Clinic, LLC. She previously created and led a DBT and Prolonged Exposure IOP for complex PTSD, co-led the DBT clinical and training program for 10 years at the Minneapolis VA, and led dozens of national DBT and Prolonged Exposure trainings in the VA, universities, and private practice. She is deeply passionate about 3rd wave Cognitive Behavioral Therapies, treating complex trauma, and mentoring others to do the same.
13.0 CEUs will be awarded to PhDs, PsyDs, LCSWs, LMFTs, and LMHCs by the respective Florida Boards.
