Freshwater Brook was an important water source that flowed across the Halifax Peninsula until the late Victorian era, when it was buried underground. Kate Solar (artist and filmmaker) and Dr. Jonathan Fowler (professor of archaeology at Saint Mary's University) will explore this phantom waterway through both historical fact and poetic imagination. What traces of the brook remain, buried in the land and in the archive? What does it mean to lose a body of water? This walk is an extension of an installation presented at Nocturne 2025.Walk Lead: Kate Solar
