This course will be taught in EnglishThe Absalon Choir welcomes all singers. The ones used to singing with others and those who mostly have their singing experience from the shower. We will have two choirs, one for beginners and one for intermediate singers.
About the two different choir classes:
Beginner
A choir where we start from scratch and get the basics in order. You don’t have to be completely new at singing, but it is okay if you are. The chosen songs will be at a level that everyone can follow, but there will also be songs that can provide some challenge and make you a better singer.
What’s most important is that you are willing to try your best and have fun with singing with other singers. It is not required that you can read music.
Intermediate
This choir is for those with previous choir experience and a basic understanding of technique, rhythm and harmony. The songs will challenge you to become a better singer.
The choir leader adjusts the arrangements to match the choir. You are not required to read music, but the sheets will be available if you can.
Both choirs are spaces, where you can develop as a singer, together with others and where it is okay to make mistakes because that is how we get better.
It is okay if there are a couple of classes where you can’t come, but in that case, we ask you to practice at home, so you are up to date with the rest of the choir.
The choir will be lead by Aleksandra and Jordan. They will take turns being there every other Wednesday, but lead the choir together and create a unified choir and experience.
About our choir leaders
Aleksandra Raczynska is a graduate of Choir Conducting and Jazz Vocal Performance from the Music Conservatory in Gdansk, Poland. Now based in Copenhagen, she has been performing, teaching singing and leading choirs for several years, sharing her passion for music with individuals and communities.
Jordan Jackson is a professional singer who has been a private music teacher for over 15 years. She has a BA hons degree in Music and is passionate about using the voice for mindfulness, vocal confidence, and community.
“Our goal will be to cherish not just great singing, but also overall musical growth. We will work on harmony, rhythm, and musical understanding while building trust—both in the music and in each other. For us, a choir rehearsal is a space to connect, create, and enjoy the process of making music together, where every voice matters.”
