About this Event
Offered monthly, this training will address Assembly Bill 541 (AB 541), which was signed into California law in 2021 and requires substance use disorder recovery or treatment facilities to assess all clients for tobacco use at intake, address tobacco use as part of treatment, and either provide adequate treatment services or make a referral to an entity that will. Attendees will learn more about the requirements of AB 541, the research that supports the consequences of tobacco use and the benefits of recovering from it in behavioral health populations. They will also gain know-how to be able to properly implement the best tobacco use assessment and treatment practices, and resources for referrals, such as Kick It California. Each agency-designated Tobacco Liaison will learn how to effectively and successfully implement AB541 within their agency.
