Dear friends,The AAUW International Women's Day (IWD) subcommittee has been busy!
You, your family and friends are cordially invited to attend the AAUW Manhattan Branch’s 10th Annual Celebration of International Women’s Day (IWD) on Saturday, March 8 at the Manhattan Country Club. It is our “signature, community-wide event.” IWD is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. The 2025 IWD theme is #AccelerateAction. Please see the attached poster for details.
AAUW’s 2025 IWD event will include a meet-and-greet social hour, dinner ($30 general and $20 student), and panel discussion by four distinguished panelists, former Kansas State Senator Lana Oleen, Founder and CEO of Black Entrepreneurs of the Flint Hills Sheila Ellis-Glasper, President of K-State Student Governing Association, and K-State Advancement of Women in Science and Engineering Dr. Chardie Baird. This panel represents the university, public service, and Manhattan businesses. Insights on women's achievements, current challenges, and advancing gender parity will be discussed.
Since 2015, our AAUW Manhattan branch has celebrated IWD by hosting accomplished women from many countries who share their cultures, stories, opportunities, and challenges. To commemorate the 10th year celebration, we will have nine poster displays highlighting the past IWD events, a wonderful pianist during the social hour, and a big beautiful cake to feast on for dessert.
