Spend a long weekend unleashing your poetic voice through a generative workshop with prompts, word play, clustering, coincidence, and more. In a world severed from nature and magic, connect with the mystery of local flora and fauna. Poets will be encouraged to use collage and simple bookmaking techniques to expand language choice and find pathways into non-linear thinking.
Poets of all levels of are welcome. Group sharing will be encouraged. No collage experience necessary. Art materials will be provided but consider bringing your favorite scissors, glue stick, colored pencils, markers, decorative papers, or images to cut out.
Retreat leaders are Arlene Metrick, MA and Stacy DeBritz, MFA.
Arlene Metrick, MA, a published writer, is an experienced workshop leader passionate about empowering adults to explore their unique stories through poetry and essay writing with a focus on overcoming creative blocks. Arlene offers innovative techniques to inspire and jumpstart your writing, including guided prompts, interactive discussions, and non-rational processes to release each person's unique voice. Join Arlene for a transformative weekend that will help you embrace your voice and share your rich life experiences with confidence.
Stacy DeBritz, M.F.A, is a creative dedicated to unleashing your potential. Prepare to dive deep. A mixed media artist, poet, and compelling memoirist. Stacy brings a kaleidoscope of experience shaping the next generation of creatives, having previously served as an adjunct professor and the director of NYC’s Studio in a School program.
