On the occasion of the Apollo Theater receiving a Kennedy Center Honor this year, the Historic Howard Theatre will host A Toast to the Apollo on Friday, December 6, 2024 from 6:30 pm until 10:30 pm at the Howard Theatre, 620 T Street NW, Washington,DC. While the Kennedy Center has never honored an organization in its 47 year history, the Apollo will receive a special Honor as an iconic American institution, emphasizing the Apollos impact on the past, present, and future of American culture and the performing arts. A Toast to the Apollo will be hosted by star of screen and stage, Phylicia Rashad, and will feature an evening of tributes from Apollo icons, including performances by local and national artists including renown urban harmonicist Frdric Yonnet, American vocal girl group En Vogue, and a special tribute performance by Tony and Grammy award winning artist and icon Jennifer Holliday.
