A supper club on grief...

A dining experience exploring the expansive landscape of grief, guided by a symphony of flavours, aromas, and sound.
About this Event

Nestled within an intimate and thoughtfully designed studio, each element of this dining journey is meticulously crafted to serve as a vessel for storytelling, enabling guests to connect in a shared experience while participating in a moment of self-discovery.

A collaboration between multi-disciplinary artist idreferdi, photographer Berince Mulenga, and oom, you’re invited to explore the unscripted, raw, and often beautifully unexpected nature of grief, through food, art, and sound.

The evening will encompass a guided discussion on grief, a thoughtfully composed three-course meal, and a sound healing experience featuring crystal and Himalayan singing bowls, wind chimes, and an array of other instruments.

This is a multi-sensory experience that stretches beyond the boundaries of taste — together, we transcend conventional notions of grief, embracing its myriad of expressions, and acknowledging the nuance in our understanding of grief. There is no one way to grieve. Grief is a messy, weird, sad, funny, life-expanding ordeal that has no hierarchy.

ABOUT IDREFERDI

Dre Ferdinand, a licensed social worker and multi-disciplinary artist, is the visionary behind 'idreferdi,’ a palindrome symbolizing symmetry, balance, and stability. Dre’s work focuses on the fusion of art and trauma healing, culminating in her comprehensive approach which she calls, MESSE. Within this holistic framework, Dre weaves together diverse practices, including Yoga, Reiki, Sound Healing, Horticulture, and EMDR, to support people in their self-realisation and promote collective care. You can contact Dre at [email protected] or @idreferdi

ABOUT OOM

Founded by Shanice Bryce, oom explores connection at the intersection of food, art, and design. What started as a one-off supper club in response to the effects of the climate crisis in Jamaica, through oom, Shanice continued to be inspired by how food could serve as a catalyst for connection. In 2019, she was nominated for a Young British Foodies award under their vegetable category and has written for gal-dem magazine on the trajectory of Black British food. You can contact Shanice on o-o-m.com or @_studio_oom_

ABOUT SOUNDS OF GRIEF

Sounds Of Grief is a platform led by artist, Bernice Mulenga. Something that naturally formed into a way of honouring their own grief and those who need it. Through this work they have found the importance of not just talking about grief but finding alternative outlets. You can contact Bernice @burneece and @soundsofgrief
