About this Event
Dana Tai Soon Burgess Dance Company (DTSBDC) triumphantly returns to the National Portrait Gallery with three visually arresting dances that celebrate iconic American artists Isamu Noguchi, Ruth Asawa, and Helen Frankenthaler.
The acclaimed dance company presents the world premiere of Light Against the Earth. This dance is a National Portrait Gallery commission. It is a tribute to sculptor Isamu Noguchi and is performed along side Drawing in Space an exploration of the world of sculptor Ruth Asawa. This unique program also includes Sudden Snow (2025) a dance inspired by the abstract expressionist, Helen Frankenthaler, whose canvasses were influenced by Asian calligraphy. All three dances are collaborations between Burgess and company DTSBDC Associate Director, Felipe Moltedo.
