About this Event
If you love to enjoy books in community, this is the event for you. We're Kokonut Head Media, a nonprofit literary educator and publisher, and we are hosting an afternoon of reading, discussion, and community.
We'll spend our time together reading and discussing two stories. The first is called "Naked I Come" by Roseline Mgbodichinma, and the second is called "Dame En Rouge" by Chidera Udochukwu. Each story takes less than 15 minutes to read aloud, so we'll move through both as a group and spend the bulk of our time in discussion. No reading required beforehand.
About the Stories
In "Naked I Come", Azuka's mind is a battlefield. She swings between clarity and madness, strips off her clothes in the street, says things nobody wants to hear, and loves people who don't know how to love her back. Her sister Nnedi has spent years managing her 'episodes', hiding sharp objects, and flying across the country at a moment's notice, until she can't protect her anymore.

In "Dame En Rouge", Nnenna's heartbreak leads her to summon Lady Koi Koi — a spirit rooted in Nigerian school folklore about a woman in red heels who haunts the halls of dormitories and classrooms, terrorizing the men who wronged her when she was alive. What starts as a joke in front of a bathroom mirror becomes something Nnenna can't take back.
