Kearney, NE — Feast of Fools Theater will present Lucas Hnath’s bold and darkly satirical play “A Public Reading of an Unproduced Screenplay About the Death of Walt Disney” for a limited run March 19–21 at 7:30 PM and March 22 at 2:00 PM at The Village, 1915 A Avenue, Kearney, Nebraska.
Part lecture, part performance, and part theatrical mischief, the play imagines a fictional “public reading” of a long-lost screenplay supposedly written by Walt Disney himself near the end of his life. As the reading unfolds, the piece becomes a sharp, funny, and unsettling exploration of legacy, mythmaking, power, and the stories America tells about its cultural icons.
Written by acclaimed playwright Lucas Hnath, the play blends historical imagination with biting satire. With only a handful of performers and a deceptively simple format, the production invites audiences to lean in as the boundary between storytelling and reality becomes increasingly blurred.
