About this Event
A People's History of SFO: A Presentation by Dr. Eric Porter-Part of the Courthouse Docket Series
Think you know SFO? Think again. On Saturday, April 18 at 1 p.m., the San Mateo County History Museum welcomes Dr. Eric Porter of UC Santa Cruz for a fascinating look at one of the Bay Area's most iconic — and most overlooked — landmarks.
In his book A People's History of SFO: The Making of the Bay Area and an Airport, Porter goes far beyond flight schedules and terminal renovations. He uncovers the airport as a living, breathing reflection of the region itself — its politics, its environment, and the communities who have shaped it and been shaped by it. This is the story of a place most of us pass through without a second thought, told in a way that might make you stop and look a little longer the next time you're waiting at your gate.
Join us for what promises to be a thought-provoking and genuinely surprising afternoon.
