About this Event
"Your Party", launched by Jeremy Corbyn and Zarah Sultana, promises a new left-wing party. Hundreds of thousands have joined its e-list, with some thousands signing up for membership. Meanwhile, thousands have joined the Green Party, which has elected a new left-wing leader. Some socialists remain in the Labour Party, seeing battles with the leadership there as vital.
How should socialists relate to mass politics, including electoral politics? Do we aim for a "left party", or for working-class political representation via a party based on the unions, or some combination of both? How should left-wing parties organise, and hold their representatives to account?
This debate, part of the, which follows on 22-23 November, will discuss these questions, with a panel of activists from different left-wing currents.
Speakers include Ruth Cashman (Workers' Liberty), Archie Woodrow (member of rs21's Marxist Unity Caucus and editorial board of Prometheus), Louise Lewis (Socialist Alternative), with a speaker also invited from Greens Organise.
