50 Years of Swinging Jazz: A New Orleans Sunday SessionStep back into the golden age of rhythm as the Basin Street Regulars Jazz Collective continues its landmark 50th Anniversary season. For five decades, we have been the Central Coast’s home for hot jazz, and our April session brings a spicy double-dose of Bakersfield talent to the Pismo Beach stage.
The Artists
West Coast Gumbo takes the spotlight with a high-energy blend of New Orleans soul. From the funk of Dr. John and The Meters to the timeless standards of the French Quarter, this ensemble delivers the authentic sounds of the Bayou.
During intermission, we are proud to welcome back the Tevis Ranger Jazz Ensemble. These elite young musicians from Tevis Junior High have become a BSR favorite, performing with a professional polish that has earned them spots at the Jazz Jubilee by the Sea and beyond.
The Day’s Rhythm
11:00 AM | The Jam Session: The music starts early. Musicians of all levels are invited to bring their instruments and sit in with the collective. (Jammers: $5).
12:30 PM – 4:00 PM | The Main Concert: Grab a drink, find a seat, or head straight for the floor.
The Experience
We feature a massive wooden dance floor with plenty of room to swing, alongside food and drinks to keep the party moving. In the spirit of supporting the next generation of jazz, we will be "passing the hat" during intermission to benefit the student performers and their jazz education.

For over four decades, the Basin Street Regulars have been promoting live jazz concerts and dance events, including the annual Jubilee by the Sea. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, BSR is dedicated to preserving and celebrating traditional jazz while also funding scholarships for young musicians to attend jazz camps.
