Come to the first public screening of this film! A Line in the Sandstone is being shown as part of Climate Liberation Festival, an alternative climate festival for those wanting radical climate action.‘A Line In The Sandstone’ is a new grassroots film that follows a collaboration between activists and highliners to walk a highline deep in the wilderness of the Denniston Plateau. A bold, suspended act of resistance to show exactly what is at stake and what it means to stand in defense of it.
At the center of the film lies Deep Creek, one of the lesser-known treasures of the Denniston Plateau. A true national treasure of pristine wild beauty - ancient, weather-shaped, and alive with rare ecosystems and species, this sandstone stronghold remains a place of profound wilderness.
But not for long. Under the fast-track mining process, this unique landscape could be torn open for short-term profit. A place shaped over millions of years reduced to a wasteland in a generation. Bathurst Resources, an Australian owned coal mining.
company, wants to destroy it for the coal that lives beneath it. It is a place few New Zealanders may even be aware of. Raising awareness about this special place is key to being able to mobilise people to defend it. This isn’t just a film. It’s a tool for resistance.
$20 waged - $10 Unwaged.
