A History of Tyne And Wear in Ten Remarkable Buildings
A talk by Margaret Bozic
The Tyne and Wear Buildings Preservation Trust was set up in 1979 to preserve the architectural heritage of Tyne and Wear. We aim to rescue threatened or neglected buildings of architectural and historic importance within this locality.
This talk is to put some of the buildings that we are dealing with, or have dealt with, into their historical and social context.
We start with Anglo Saxon Gateshead and end with Art Deco in Benwell Newcastle. Most of the buildings are on Tyneside but we will also visit Sunderland's Sunniside.
