We welcome very special international live guests - Romperayo, flying in from Colombia, making their Bristol debut with their psychedelic sound explosion to send you into a trance dance state alongside Mexican DJs Ritmos Cholulteka & Sabor A Mi bringing all their incredible energy to the decks alongside Movimientos’ Cal Jader for a night of spectacular Latin rhythms and a celebration of life and lost loved ones. ROMPERAYO
Romperayo sounds like a fast moving musical journey through Colombian tropical folklore, a mischievous and modern interpretation of the psychedelic sounds of 70s cumbia and other tropical rhythms. Expect musical fireworks that don’t only move your hips and feet, but also direct your brain into a blissful mood.
The band is part of the new Colombian music scene that re-interprets their roots in a fascinating way, combining both traditional rhythms and modern electronics. It’s bordering on utter weirdness, but at the same time very danceable and full of musical humor too. Other bands from this scene are Meridian Brothers, Frente Cumbiero and Los Pirañas. Pedro Ojeda, drummer of Romperayo, happens to be the drummer from Los Pirañas too as well as being a key member of the Ondatropica band alongside Quantic.
RITMOS CHOLULTEKA
Ritmos Cholulteka aka Bruno Sin Más is one of the pioneers of Cumbia and Latin American music in the Portuguese capital Lisbon. Creator of "Movimiento Cumbiero" a movement to unify Latin American residents in the city from 2013. And founder of NAHUEL COLECTIVO, with the purpose of spreading Latin American culture in Portugal. His DJ sets have a deep and lively energy mixed with Mexican pre-Hispanic instruments and accompanied by native visuals
SABOR A MI
Mexican-French DJ Sabor A Mi is a romantic soul with boundless energy, lots of love and a way of appreciating the present moment as if it were her last. With her multi-cultural background inspiring a borderless approach to her DJ sets underpinned by a love of Afro-Latin rhythms. Her Rinse France show joins the dots between classic Salsa & Cumbia, contemporary Latin sounds, Afro-House Dembow and electronic beats.
