Steadily becoming a world respected piano talent, in the incredible space that is 'The Mount Without', we are super proud to present and host in concert the Fergus McCreadie Trio.
Fergus McCreadie is undoubtedly one of the most exciting young jazz pianists on the world stage. With his unique blend of Jazz and Scottish folk music inspired by his country’s sublime landscapes, Fergus has been capturing the hearts and minds of audiences worldwide.
At the age of 25 years old, he has (already) released three albums. Two of which: 2021's 'Cairn' and 2022's Mercury Prize nominated 'Forest Floor' were released on the renowned 'Edition Records'. Prior to those two LPs, his debut 'Turas' was winner of the 2018 'Scottish Jazz Album of the Year' and also gained him immediate recognition in London when just 20 years old as it also won the 'Parliamentary Jazz Album Of The Year.
With an innate depth, flair and natural expression that communicates beyond his years, Fergus' ability to transition from a full flowing, radiant pulse-wash of sound, to a tranquil, first light stillness in a moment is simply breathtaking. Whilst his music is built on the folk traditions he has grown up with, it’s the versatility of rhythm and colour, the most delicate shades to the highest energy, that’s captivating.
The mix of jazz, classical and folk music played alongside deft, delicate players David Bowden on Double Bass, and Stephen Henderson on Drums, make for a unique mix that in one quick turn can take you from a serene cascading Scottish sun soaked landscape, stream trickling away, into a modern metropolis with frantic energy, urgency and buzz.
Watching Fergus play is a joy. It makes you wonder how someones fingers and brain traverse at such a rapid pace with such fluidity. It's electric stuff.
