About this Event

Join us for Tate House Museum’s annual one-day only event of the season: A Colonial Christmas on Saturday, December 13 from 12:00 noon to 5:00 PM with holiday-themed interpretations in the Tate House from 12 noon- 3:00 pm. During this 3-hour Open House, visitors will experience the Tate House seasonally decorated for the period, hear performers in 18th century attire describe colonial customs and traditions around the holidays in a merchant-class British household, and enjoy colonial games. NEW this year: stories of the Tate family experience during the unrest of the American Revolution following the recent bombardment of the town on October 18, 1775.

Visitors will enjoy live harp and lute music by the Colonial Troubadours, and learn about and sample special foods and drinks made for Christmas, New Years, and Twelfth Night celebrations.

Have your photo taken under our lovely green arbor over the Tate House door and visit our Colonial Shop with many new gifts from 12-6 pm.

Join our colonial tavern keeper as he prepares and shares the popular colonial drink FLIP” in 18th century fashion from 3:00-4:00 pm. NEW this year, help us Burn the Tea to protest the King’s tax on tea, an event that happens annually in Lexington on Dec 13, 1775.

Admission prices are: $18 adults, $12 children (ages 7-17, 6 and under free) $45 family of four (2 adults and 2 children). THM and SNA members as well as Homeschools and Girl/Boy Scouts receive $2-5 off ticket prices ($16 for adults, $10 for children, and $40 for families)

New memberships at the event receive half price entry ($9 with individual membership at $35, and $22 for a family with a new $50 family membership)

Tickets are available at tatehouse.org and will also be sold at the door.

A tree lighting at Means House with carol singing will be hosted bytthe Stroudwater Neighborhood Association from 4:00-5:00 pm. Participation is this part of the event is free and open to the public.
