About this Event
This workshop is a practical, hands-on introduction to carbon tracking, designed to support trade association members and small and medium enterprises (SMEs) at the early stages of their sustainability journey.
Rather than focusing on technical standards or complex calculations, the session explores how carbon data shows up in everyday business activities, and how businesses can begin organising and using this information in a simple, structured way. It also highlights how better visibility over energy use and emissions can serve as a starting point for future energy efficiency improvements and relevant support schemes such as the Energy Efficiency Grant (EEG).
Through foundational concepts, interactive exercises, and a guided practice session using realistic examples, the workshop is designed to be accessible even for very small teams and first-time participants, with no prior knowledge required.
This session is for you if you’ve ever thought …
- “I don’t feel confident about taking the first steps in carbon tracking – and I don’t know where to begin.”
- “I already have some data (utilities, fuel bills, invoices), but I’m not sure how to use it properly.”
- “How do I identify which activities in my business actually generate emissions?”
- “Can carbon tracking help me control costs or prepare for future financing requirements — or is it just reporting?”
By the end of this session, participants will have a clearer understanding of:
- Where emissions come from in a business context
- How “getting started” with carbon tracking realistically looks like
- How basic carbon data can support cost awareness, operational insights, and readiness for future business or funding requirements
Who Should Attend?
Preferably the company’s CorpPass holder (or a representative with CorpPass access), as the carbon accounting platform functions optimally when accessed by the authorised CorpPass user.
What to Bring
To support the guided data-entry practice, we ask that participants bring the following:
- Electricity bills covering the past 12 - 24 months (monthly or quarterly)
- Basic fuel usage records from the past 12 - 24 months (e.g. petrol or diesel receipts, refrigerant gas invoices)
- A laptop or tablet for hands-on participation
Please take note that your registration is confirmed only if you receive the confirmation email from BDO Management Consulting Services.
