About this Event

About The Event:

The Sororum club for women hosts an intimate Candlelight Tea & Talk on Monday, November 17th.

Step back in time within this stunning heritage venue, established in 1929, and experience an evening that blends warmth, conversation, and inspiration.

Guests will enjoy a candlelight high tea service by Executive Chef Douglas James Walker followed by a fascinating presentation and discussion from Royal Historian Dr. Carolyn Harris, who will share some stories of women throughout history, from Cleopatra and Queen Elizabeth I to Indira Gandhi and Margaret Thatcher, as well as a few significant women from the City of Toronto.

You’ll leave inspired, relaxed, and enriched by stories of interesting women whose courage, intellect, and spirit continue to illuminate the world today — and perhaps with a few new friendships of your own.

More than just an evening out, it’s an opportunity to connect with a community of thoughtful, like-minded women who value conversation, curiosity, and shared experience.

About The Speaker:

Dr. Carolyn Harris is a historian, author, and royal commentator based in Toronto. She teaches history at the University of Toronto’s School of Continuing Studies, where she has twice received the Arts and Science Excellence in Teaching Award.

Her work has been featured by major outlets including the BBC, CNN, CBC, The Globe and Mail, and The Wall Street Journal.

In 2025, Dr. Harris was awarded the King Charles III Coronation Medal for her contributions to public understanding of history. She continues to lecture widely in Canada and abroad, sharing her insight into the lives, power, and influence of history’s most fascinating royal women.

We are honoured and delighted to have Dr. Carolyn Harris join us for an intimate Candelight Tea and discussion about significant women in Toronto's history, and other interesting female figures.

There is a limited number of tickets available for this event, so make sure to book as soon as possible.
