W ostatnim tygodniu maja, dzięki wsparciu Fundacji Khyentse, w Instytucie Porównawczych Studiów Cywilizacji odbędzie się kolejna edycja cyklu wykładów gościnnych, na które zaproszono uznanych badaczy specjalizujących się w różnych aspektach studiów nad buddyzmem.Najbliższy wykład, pt. "A Brief History of Sexual Yoga in Indian tantric Buddhism", w czwartek 28 maja o godz. 13.15 w sali 119 wygłosi Dr. Julian Schott (Department of South Asian, Tibetan and Buddhist Studies (ISTB) at the University of Vienna, Austria).

Abstract: In this lecture Dr. Julian Schott will present a brief history of the Four Joys, a prominent system within Buddhist tantras related to so-called Sexual Yoga, the completion stage and the specific "means" characteristic of esoteric Buddhism. We will cover some of the major developmental phases in Indian tantric Buddhism and beyond by investigating well-known and some lesser-known sources characteristic of the various phases along with their changing interpretations.
**Dr. Julian Schott** is a postdoctoral researcher and lecturer at the Department of South Asian, Tibetan and Buddhist Studies (ISTB) at the University of Vienna, Austria. Trained in Indology, Philosophy, and Religious Studies in Göttingen, Pune, and Hamburg, he specializes in Indo-Tibetan tantric traditions, with a focus on Buddhist Sanskrit manuscripts and Tibetan translation literature. His doctoral research at the Center for the Study of Manuscript Culture (CSMC) examined the Apabhraṃśa dohā poem of Kṛṣṇavajra and their Sanskrit and Tibetan commentary traditions. He has taught classical Tibetan and Sanskrit at the University of Sydney and the Rangjung Yeshe Institute. The most recent publications include Indrabhūti’s Jñānasiddhi (2024), studies on Mahāmudrā literature, and editions of Tilopa’s dohā songs (2025) In addition to textual scholarship and recent focus on the Kālacakra, Julian engages with contemplative studies, aiming at uniting humanities with scientific perspectives.
