9th Tbiisi International Festival of Literature 27-30 September

27-30 სექტემბერს თბილისი მეცხრედ უმასპინძლებს საერთაშორისო ლიტერატურულ ფესტივალს, რომლის ფარგლებში ჩვენს ქალაქს 16 ქვეყნიდან 20 ავტორი ეწვევა.
ბოლო წლებში საქართველოს ხელისუფლებამ დაიწყო უხეში ჩარევა კულტურის სფეროში მისი დამორჩილების მიზნით, შედეგად არაერთმა კულტურულმა დაწესებულებამ, მათ შორის ფესტივალის ტრადიციულმა ორგანიზატორმა - მწერალთა სახლმა - დაკარგა დამოუკიდებლობა. რამდენადაც შემოქმედებითი პროცესების დამოუკიდებლობის შენარჩუნება, სიტყვისა და გამოხატვის თავისუფლება გადამწყვეტია კულტურასა და ხელოვნებაში, წელს ფესტივალის ორგანიზატორი საქართველოს PEN ცენტრი იქნება.
შესაბამისად,, თბილისის საერთაშორისო ლიტერატურული ფესტივალის მთავარი თემაა „პროტესტი ლიტერატურაში და მის მიღმა“.
2024 წლის ივნისში, თბილისსა და რეგიონებში მასობრივი პროტესტისა და საქართველოს მეგობრების არაერთი გაფრთხილების მიუხედავად, საქართველოს მთავრობამ მიიღო ანტიდემოკრატიული კანონი უცხოელი აგენტების შესახებ, რომელსაც საზოგადოებამ მართებულად რუსული კანონი უწოდა. ამ ვითარებაში კიდევ უფრო მნიშვნელოვანი ხდება არსებულ მდგომარეობაზე საუბარი მწერლების და მოაზროვნეების მეშვეობით. ჩვენი მიზანია, ვაქციოთ ფესტივალი თავისუფლებისა და დემოკრატიის ცენტრალურ პლატფორმად.
საერთაშორისო ლიტერატურული ფესტივალის მხარდამჭერები და პარტნიორები არიან: აშშ-ს საელჩო საქართველოში, პოეზიის პლატფორმა Versopolis, გოეთეს ინსტიტუტი საქართველოში, შვეიცარიის საელჩო საქართველოში, იტალიის საელჩო, ესპანეთის საელჩო, ლატვიის განვითარების ფონდი, პოლონური ინსტიტუტი თბილისში, ჩეხეთის ცენტრი თბილისში, ფრანგული ინსტიტუტი, NORLA - ნორვეგიული ლიტერატურა საზღვარგარეთ, ჰენრიხ ბიოლის ფონდი, ქართული სახვითი ხელოვნების მუზეუმი, მოძრაობის თეატრი, სულაკაურის გამომცემლობა, გამომცემლობა პალიტრა ელ., ჟურნალი ქართული მწერლობა, ინდიგო, რადიო თავისუფლება.

Tbilisi International Festival of Literature [TIFL] has been organized by Writers’ House of Georgia since 2015. Throughout its eight editions, TIFL has had up to 160 participants from almost 40 countries. The Festival stage has hosted important authors including Charles Bernstein, Etgar Keret, Serhiy Zhadan, Melania Mazzucco, Michael Palmer, Nino Kharatisvhili, Bernhard Schlink, Yurii Andrukhovych, Bob Holman, Blake Crouch, Valzhyna Mort, and others.
In recent years, the governing party started to intervene in the sphere of culture, resulting in loss of independence of many cultural institutions, including the Writers’ House. As keeping the independence of creative processes, freedom of speech and expression are crucial challenges for us, this year the Festival will be organized by PEN Center of Georgia.
In June 2024, despite mass protests in the country and forceful warning by the friends of Georgia, the Georgian Government adopted the anti-democratic so-called Law on Foreign Agents. It becomes even more important to discuss the current situation, share the experiences and lessons with our foreign partners, spread our stories in the world through fiction and non-fiction, writers and academics. Our objective is to make the Festival a central platform for freedom and democracy. We look forward to welcoming writers and poets, but also historians, political scientists and other members of academia.
The theme of this years’ Festival is “Protest within literature and beyond”. This theme will be reflected in discussions, panel talks and other events.
The Festival program includes book presentations, author talks, discussions, workshops, poetry nights and performances. Most of them are open to the general public, only a few are available for industry professionals and creatives upon registration.

27 September, from 18:00 onwards: Georgian Museum of Fine Arts, 7, Rustaveli Avenue.
28 & 29 September, from 15:00 onwards: Goethe Institute Tbilisi, 16, Mikheil Zandukeli Street.
30 September, from 17:00 onwards: The Movement Theatre, 182 Agmashenebeli Avenue.
