The SCAD School of Film and Acting presents 9 to 5, the live musical based on the seminal hit 1980 movie of the same name. Pushed to the boiling point, three female coworkers concoct a plan to get even with the sexist, egotistical, lying, and hypocritical bigot they call their boss.Set in the 1970s and featuring music and lyrics by Dolly Parton and book by Patricia Resnick, 9 to 5 is a hilarious story of friendship and revenge — outrageous, thought-provoking, and even a little romantic. In a hilarious turn of events, Violet, Judy, and Doralee live out their wildest fantasy: giving their boss the boot! While Hart remains “otherwise engaged,” the women give their workplace a dream makeover, taking control of the company that had always kept them down.
Performances will take place March 5–7 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, March 8, at 3 p.m.; admission to the Thursday, March 5, performance is free for SCAD Card holders. Tickets are $5 for SCAD Card holders; $15 for students, military, and seniors; and $20 for the general public. For more information, email [email protected].
