The votes are in… and the ship’s company has delivered its verdict.Och aye — Glasgow it is then!
Out of 25 sea salty veterans who somehow navigated the perils of Facebook without going aground, the results came in as follows:
Glasgow – 38%
Gibraltar – 28%
Cardiff – 22%
Prague – 8%
Winnipeg – 4%
So the 891 Reunion, 22–24 May 2026, will be making a triumphant landfall in… GLASGOW.
We’ve now got a clear course to steer: plan the weekend programme, sort the Saturday run ashore, and give Glasgow fair warning that a group of ex-matelots is inbound.
And of course, it wouldn’t be Glasgow without the holy trinity: haggis with tatties ’n’ neeps, a greasy deep-fried Mars bar for afters, and enough heavy and whisky to make us all believe we’re still in fighting trim…..but we’ll ask for more input before finalising Saturdays dinner.
Expect sea dits, steady laughs, and the usual attempts to prove we’ve still “got it” despite decades of solid evidence and partners in tow suggesting otherwise.
If it rains, don’t worry it’s just Glasgow saying hello.
