Alice Teyssier joined joined by her International Contemporary Ensemble colleagues in a program of 20th and 21st century chamber music from a variety of traditions. Their instruments will be used in both traditional and complex, extended ways to create immersive, expanded sound worlds. At St. Peter's Episcopal Church in the heart of uptown, enter through the glass doors on 7th Street. Ushers will direct you to the Parish Hall. The event includes a complimentary reception and a chance to meet the performers in our warm, intimate, and welcoming environment. Be among the first to experience this new concert series and see ICE in their first appearance in Charlotte.

Flutist, soprano and sound artist Alice Teyssier ['ɑlis 'tesje] brings “something new, something fresh, but also something uncommonly beautiful” (UT San Diego) to her performances. Hailed as possessing an "ethereal and riveting" (The Flute View) voice with “unusual depth” (Badische Zeitung), Alice’s mission is to share lesser-known masterpieces and develop a rich and vibrant repertoire that reflects our era. Alice has appeared as “a virtuosic soloist” (SF Chronicle) with the most acclaimed new music and Baroque music ensembles in Europe and the United States. She is a core ensemble player with the International Contemporary Ensemble (ICE), with which she tours internationally. Additionally, she composes and performs with The Atelier, a uniquely organized music-image-movement ensemble, which was featured on the 2016 Resonant Bodies Festival in New York.

Now in its third decade, the International Contemporary Ensemble is a multidisciplinary collective of musicians, digital media artists, producers, and educators committed to building and innovating collaborative environments in order to inspire audiences to reimagine how they experience contemporary music and sound. Under the leadership of composer and Artistic Director George Lewis, the Ensemble creates a mosaic musical ecosystem as “America’s foremost new-music group” (The New Yorker), honoring the diversity of human experience and expression by commissioning, developing, recording, and performing the works of living artists in “a mission worth following” (I Care If You Listen).

Co-founded in 2001 by flutist and MacArthur “genius” Fellow Claire Chase, the Ensemble has premiered over 1,000 works and is the recipient of the Chamber Music America/ASCAP Award for Adventurous Programming, as well as Musical America’s Ensemble of the Year Award. Past artistic leadership includes co-founder Claire Chase and Ensemble members Joshua Rubin, Rebekah Heller, and Ross Karre. Notable presenting partners have included Lincoln Center’s Mostly Mozart Festival, Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, TIME:SPANS Festival, Roulette, and Miller Theatre. The Ensemble has given performances at Warsaw Autumn, Darmstadt International Summer Courses for New Music, Cité de la Musique (Paris), Park Avenue Armory, Metropolitan Museum of Art, Ojai Music Festival, and Big Ears Festival as well as in venues such as the Dutch National Opera, Carnegie Hall, and Walt Disney Concert Hall.

7th Street Concerts is a new curated concert series in residence at St. Peter's Episcopal Church bringing a wide range of exciting and suprising concerts exploring all corners of classical music, right in the heart of Uptown. Each concert will also include a community outreach event, bringing world-class musicians straight to people without the opportunity to hear these concerts, in shelters, schools, hospitals, and more.
