About this Event
7 DOOR SEDAN is a punk-inspired indie rock band from Silver Spring, MD—just a couple of blocks from Washington DC. They blend influences such as XTC, Bowie, T-Rex, 70’s and 80’s punk.
Their latest album, “Neutral,” was released in 2025. American Pancake calls the track “Outsider,” “punchy indie rock 80’s new wave fueled by gritty vocal wails and full throttle stripped down raw rock.” Click Rock Boom says “Like a Song,” is “an effortlessly cool slice of indie rock.”
7 Door Sedan is songwriter Glenn Kowalski on vocals and guitar, Josh Singer on bass and backing vocals, and Norman van der Sluys filling out the trio on drums and backing vocals.
Glenn was twice nominated for modern rock instrumentalist of the year by the Washington Area Music Association for his work with 7 Door Sedan. As a teen in the late 70’s, he was a founding member of White Boy, one of Washington DC’s influential punk bands.
Tru Fax & the Insaniacs were mere children in 1978, when they joined Washington, D.C.'s infant punk scene. They organized their own shows at Hard Art, MOTA, dc space and Madam's Organ, and played their first 9:30 Club show on July 9, 1980. The next month, they returned with the Insect Surfers, and the rest is history. Well, maybe not quite history, but at least a chapter in the annals of D.C. rock and roll.
Insanosound: Think of buzzsaw guitars (with David's ever-changing, totally unusual solos) and a hard-breaking rhythm section, fronted by a voice (Diana's) that evokes early Deborah Harry -- sort of Blondie meets the Stooges or New York Dolls. The Songs poke fun at society's conventions, and the lyrics are as important as the music; think of it as punk for intellectuals.
