About this Event
As part of our special 60th Anniversary celebrations in 2024, we're hosting a special one-off Alumni event featuring three recently published ex-Strathclyde students who are returning to share their work and experiences. Chaired by Dr. Rodge Glass, Convener of the MLitt in Creative Writing, featuring readings, discussion and informal chat about publication and the writing life.
Writer bios -
MARGARET MCDONALD is a Scottish author from Glasgow. She is published in the disability-focused magazine Breath and Shadow as well as the prose and poetry magazines Bandit Fiction, Bubble Lit, In Parentheses and The Manifest Station. Margaret worked for the NHS after shielding for a year, during which time she finished her Masters in English Literature from Glasgow University with Distinction. She also has a First Class BA (Hons) from Strathclyde University, where she studied writing.
CALLUM MCSORLEY is a writer based in Glasgow whose short stories have appeared in Gutter Magazine, Monstrous Regiment and New Writing Scotland. Squeaky Clean is his debut novel, inspired by his years working at a car wash in Glasgow's East End. With it, Callum became the youngest ever author to win the prestigious McIlvanney Prize for best Scottish crime novel of the year. His second novel, Paperboy, will be published in 2025.
