About this Event
The ASCE Metropolitan Section Geo-Institute invites you to join us for the 50th Annual Met Section Geotechnical Seminar. This seminar will revisit landmark projects that have shaped the geotechnical field, dating back to the inception of the seminar in 1965. It will feature presentations on geotechnical design, experimentation, construction, and case histories from completed and ongoing projects.
Presentations will highlight influential projects, many from the New York City metropolitan area, and examine their lasting impact on engineering practice, innovation, and construction methodologies. As presenters revisit these notable projects through a modern lens, they will address key questions, including: (1) project achievements; (2) the project’s significant impact on the field of geotechnical engineering; (3) important lessons learned; (4) changes that, in retrospect, could have improved the design or construction; and (5) whether the construction practices set a precedent for future projects.
