4x2 showcases ‘paintings’ framed with notched 4x2 timber, bound with muka. The exhibition reflects on the Maori and colonial history of Art and Architecture in Aotearoa. Each work reframes and reclaims traditional Maori building methods historically overlooked or discouraged by mainstream industry. The strength and interconnectedness of Matauranga Maori is honoured by reforming connections between Maori art and architecture, trascending and questioning Western disciplinary boundaries.1 Ponsonby Road
