4TH ASIAN CONVERGENCE INITIATIVEMarch 05-08, 2026 | Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
Rationale:
The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), established on August 8, 1967, has become one of the world’s most dynamic regional organizations fostering peace, security, and cooperation
among its ten member states. With a combined GDP of USD 4.1 trillion and a population approximately 700 million, ASEAN is the fifth-largest economy globally and a vital engine of global
growth. Anchored on three pillars—the Political-Security Community, Economic Community, and Socio-Cultural Community—ASEAN continues to advance regional integration, inclusive growth, and sustainable development.
Yet, the region faces mounting challenges driven by rapid urbanization, environmental pressures, and uneven access to essential services. These issues call for strengthened regional cooperation and multi-sectoral collaboration toward shared prosperity and sustainable progress.
Malaysia, as one of ASEAN’s founding members, has been instrumental in shaping the region’s direction. It has consistently promoted regional economic integration, people-centered
development, and the pursuit of sustainability. Malaysia played a key role in formulating the ASEAN Vision 2025 and has championed initiatives on green growth, education, and digital transformation. With its robust manufacturing, services, and digital economies, Malaysia serves as a bridge for trade and investment within the region. Its policies on inclusive education, renewable energy, and human capital development demonstrate its commitment to building a more sustainable and
equitable ASEAN.
In this light, the Asian Network for Sustainable Development (ANSD) Inc. and Bridging Leaders for Sustainable Development Inc., in partnership with the Chamber of Commerce of the Philippine Islands (CCPI), with technical support from Asuelo Management Consultancy and Impact Southeast Asia Travel and Tours, will convene the 4th Asian Convergence Initiative: Multisectoral Forum on Understanding ASEAN at the Crossroads of Progress and Development, themed “Sustaining Asian Growth through Achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)”, on
