Canvas Yarn Art “The Very Busy Spider” (Ages 5-18, Offered during Session 2): Listen to the story of Eric Carle's "The Very Busy Spider", “ then create your own canvas yarn art spider and web. Class is suitable for ages 5 and up.
Crochet Creations (All Ages, Offered during Session 5 ): Kids will dive into a world of colorful yarn as they learn to crochet through silly, hands-on, fun, and easy-to-learn stitches. By the end, they'll proudly show off their own yarny creations!
Food Prep (All Ages, Offered during Session3 ): Kids will whip up bite‑sized treats as they explore the joy of creating mini‑meals with simple ingredients and big imagination. This playful workshop lets young chefs mix, munch, and marvel at their tiny culinary masterpieces!
Houseplant Propagation and Vegetable Starts (All Ages, Offered during Sessions 3 and 4): This is a hands-on horticulture class where 4-Hers will learn how new plants are grown from cuttings and slips. We'll cover basic plant anatomy (leaf, stem, petiole, node, internode, and growth point) and growth functionality and conditions, including a discussion of temperatures and hormones. Each child will make their own plant cuttings and take home live starts to grow and exhibit at fair as a houseplant or potted vegetable. Plants, pots, and grow bags are provided, have your own soil ready to pot them once you get home!
Introduction to Portrait Photography (Ages 9-18, Offered during Sessions 1 and 2): This class will cover basics on how to find good lighting, pose, and how to center your subject in a photo. We will also be exploring tools you can use on your phone or camera.
Photography Basics & Preparing Your Photos for Fair (Ages 9-18, Offered during Sessions 3 and 4): This class will explore the elements that make a photo great and what judges are looking to see at fair. We will also be learning how to prepare your photos for fair with mounting and matting.
Presentation Basics (All Ages, Offered during Session 2): Ever wonder what it takes to give a presentation? Well, this is the class for you. Learn skills to make your presentation great.
Rock Painting & Water Bottle Decals (Ages 5-18, Offered during Session 1): Paint a rock with your own designs to share with a friend, then magically create fun water bottle decals using just printed pictures, packing tape, and water.
Showcase Your Style (Ages 6-18, Offered during Session 3): If you’re curious about the 4-H Fashion Revue or think it’s too difficult to prepare for, join this session! Learn about garment and accessory selection, writing a commentary, presenting your selection, and interacting with the judge.
