About this Event
We'll see you at this year’s Cemetery Improvement Day. This will be our first joint effort at this cemetery following two years at Cementerio Español. As you are probably aware, the physical makeup of this cemetery is much different than our older one with all monuments being at ground level. There are also crypts in a Mausoleum structure.
We anticipate performing the following activities in the lawn area:
• Edging around ground markers.
• Sweeping markers to ensure that names can clearly be seen.
• Re-setting ground marker bases when needed.
• Repairing benches followed by cleaning and painting.
• Picking up any debris/trash
We anticipate performing the following activity in the Mausoleum:
• General cleanup in and around the building.
We are happy to report that a friend of the Centro Español, Dr. Dennis Alvarez, has graciously offered to clean and paint the entry feature, repair the gutter at the Mausoleum damaged by last summer’s hurricanes, and paint the fascia of the Mausoleum. We hope to have these items taken care of by the date of the event.
We extend our gratitude to Dr. Alvarez.
If you are able, please consider bringing the following to assist in the activities:
• Line cutters (W**d eaters)
• Leaf blowers
• Square tipped shovels
• Stiff and soft bristle brooms
• Self-contained spray pumps
• Any other yard tools you think would be of help
The Centro will supply work gloves, garbage bags, cleaning product, brushes, trash grabbers, and a comfort tent. If you plan to assist, please RSVP to confirm your attendance. We really need the same big turnout we had last year to give our cemetery the love it deserves, so please come on out to help. We look forward to seeing you there!
