Featuring Vista Trio, Josh Cole & Maxwell Stover, and the New Symphony Orchestra
About this Event

2nd Fridays is a series that builds community, where artists can take risks in a supportive environment and where we strip the stuffiness out of the concert hall and turn it into the city's most interesting living room. Less a concert; more a house party, where the bands just happen to be a collection of the most talented and adventurous players in the country.

For January, we're redifining "classics" with Vista Trio, Josh Cole & Maxwell Stover, and the New Symphony Orchestra!

Vista Trio: Paul Crocker (piano), Robert Diack (drums), and Sam Little (bass), unite under the banner Vista Trio to present new works and reimagined classics. Inspired by the likes of Shai Maistro, Brad Mehldau, Avishai Cohen, and many of the great modern piano trios of the last 20 years. Vista Trio builds on this foundation creating pieces that are at times
expansive and adventurous, and at others off-kilter and disorienting.
If you’re a fan of rhythmic interplay and dynamic interaction this new
trio is one to watch out for.

Josh Cole & Maxwell Stover Duo:

“Cole plays an extremely strange, distorted solo" - Art Music Lounge

Josh Cole (double bass) & Maxwell Stover (saxophones & woodwinds) first met playing in Nick Fraser’s band ‘Special Topics’. Here you will find them playing a rare set of intimate and dynamic duo improvisations.

The New Symphony Orchestra is an independent and amorphous ensemble committed to redefining the classical music experience. Born from a desire to challenge the conventions of the traditional symphony orchestra, the NSO offers a fresh, critical approach to classical music through the implementation of free-improvisation and interdisciplinary experimentation in their performances.
