2026 Ride of Silence - San Francisco

Location: William McKinley Monument in the Panhandle
San Francisco's annual Ride of Silence is a solemn, powerful group ride to honor those who lost their lives while biking. This ride continues to grow in scale, now taking place in over 20 countries in May, with thousands of people riding their bikes to remember, support each other, and heal collectively. This year marks 24 years of the Ride of Silence.
This silent group ride is suitable for all ages and abilities. During the ride, we will stop to lay flowers and observe a moment of silence at the sites of recent biking fatalities and honor those we have lost while spreading the message that people who bike represent precious lives. Also, we will stop at South Park to honor the lives of those we lost in our bike messenger community and others. We will listen to some reflections from family members and friends of those we lost at some of the stops. We are all deeply affected when we lose someone in our community, and together, we will ride, remember, reflect, and heal.
You are also welcome to participate, so please bring flowers of remembrance to place at any of the designated stops.
Please note that San Francisco City Hall will NOT be illuminated this year to honor those who were killed while biking in San Francisco and the Ride of Silence. We will work on getting the building lit up on another date.

The route will encompass five stops. We encourage everyone to complete the ride with the entire group if you are able. We will be doing a live installation of this year's ghost bike at City Hall again.
The meet-up will be at the William McKinley Monument Statue in the Pan Handle.
