The Oakland Carnival Planning Committee proudly announces the 12th Annual Oakland Carnival Wellness Festival, taking place Saturday, June 6, 2026, at Oakland’s newly renovated Mosswood Park. This free, family-friendly event runs from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
This year’s theme, “Global Rhythms, Oakland Soul,” celebrates the powerful exchange between the cultural traditions of the African Diaspora and the vibrant creative energy that defines Oakland.

About the Festival:
The Oakland Carnival Wellness Festival is Northern California's largest Caribbean-centered Carnival experience, attracting participants from across the Bay Area, the state, and the nation. This year’s event will showcase local dance companies, funky bands, drumming baterias, and a colorful array of talented artists representing Carnival traditions from the Caribbean, Central, and South America.
At the heart of the festival is the Axe’ Wellness Dance & Drum Pavilion, a cornerstone of the Community Wellness Project. This space will offer free outdoor West African and Brazilian dance classes, yoga and breathing sessions, health screenings, plant-based nutrition education, and holistic wellness resources.
The Carijama Vibes Stage anchors the festival's "Global Rhythms, Oakland Soul" theme through a curated showcase of local artists, DJs, dance groups, and Carnival masquerade bands. Each set is programmed to represent a distinct region of the African Diaspora, reflecting the diverse communities whose cultural traditions have taken root and thrived across the Bay Area.
The Taste of Carnival Food Court will feature some of the Bay Area’s top food trucks and vendors, while the African Marketplace will highlight artisans and makers offering cultural goods from around the world. The Youth Zone, provided by Higher Ground, is intentionally designed to support and inspire young people through engaging, age-appropriate activities.
About the Organizer:
The Oakland Carnival Committee is a joint partnership of local arts organizations led by SambaFunk!, a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt arts organization with the support of the City of Oakland, San Francisco Foundation, Akonadi Foundation, California Arts Council, East Bay Community Foundation, and multiple local community members.
