** As the walk date approaches, the Indy Walk Page (afsp.org/indianapolis) will be updated with more details.
When you walk in the Out of the Darkness Walks, you join with hundreds of thousands of people to raise awareness and funds that allow the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) to invest in new research, create educational programs based in current science, advocate for public policy, and support survivors of suicide loss.
The Indianapolis Walk was ranked 4th in the country out of all Out of the Darkness Walks in 2025 and will be celebrating our 20th Walk Anniversary in 2026
The Indiana Chapter won the prized Richard E. Kirkoff Overall Chapter of the Year Award (out of 74 AFSP Chapters) for the first time at our 2023 annual AFSP Chapter Leadership Conference.
Why We Walk:
Every year suicide claims more lives than war, murder, and natural disasters combined, and yet suicide prevention doesn't get the attention and funding given to other leading causes of death. It's up to Walkers like us to make Mental Health a priority in Indiana.
#AFSPIndiana works year round to change the way our communities, schools, churches, professionals, family and friends talk and think about mental illness and suicide.
