Get off the grid with some of the most historic and scenic links anywhere in the world
About this Event

The northwest of Ireland is home to some of the most dramatic dunesland in the world. Next May, we're taking a group of Fried Egg Golf Club members off the grid to visit a selection of world-class golf, off-the-beaten-path venues, and experience the local Irish culture along the way.

Trip Dates: May 23-31, 2026

Courses included: Strandhill, Enniscrone (Dunes), Carne, The County Sligo Golf Club, Cruit Island, Old Tom Morris Links, Sandy Hills, St. Patrick's Links, and Portsalon Golf Club.

Registration Information

Lottery window: June 5 - June 8, 2025

Winners contacted: June 10, 2025

Entries available: Single, Twosome, Foursome*

Expected Cost: $7,450 single occupancy // $6,400 double occupancy**

Deposit Due at Selection: $3,000/person

Included in registration: At least nine rounds of golf, transportation between airport, courses, and hotels, and lodging. Participants are responsible for airfare, caddie fees (if requested), food, and transportation to Dublin International Airport on the day of departure.

A total of 20 spots are available on this trip. Due to the small size, participants will be selected via a lottery.

*If you register for a twosome, you are allowed to bring one non-FEGC member. If you register for a foursome, two players in the group are allowed to be non-FEGC members.

**This trip is priced at $1.13 USD to € and is dependent on the exchange rate leading into the trip. The quote is valid as long as the exchange rate stays between $1.08 and $1.18. If the exchange rate falls outside that parameter we will reprice the trip. The final price will also be adjusted should any course change rates (higher or lower) between now and the trip.

Travel Information

Airports - All participants will fly into and out of Dublin International Airport (DUB). Transportation will be provided from start to (nearly) finish, including to and from all rounds of golf and between locations. The only transportation you are required to cover is the short 10-minute Uber or cab to the airport on the day of departure.

Hotels - Participants will be treated to great accommodations throughout the trip. We'll set up shop in the heart Sligo at the Glasshouse Hotel for first four nights, move over to the Rosapenna Resort for the next three nights, and stay at the Grand Malahide on the final night before departures from Dublin International Airport.

Course Information

Strandhill - Your welcome to Ireland, Strandhill Golf Club sits on the Atlantic Ocean next to Stranhill Beach and abutting the Strandhill Dunes. The course was extended to 18 holes in the 1970s by Eddie Hackett and provides a genuine Irish links experience for your first day of action.

Enniscrone (Dunes) - Alongside Enniscrone Beach, Enniscrone Golf Club is another Eddie Hackett design but one with a more championship feel. As with many Irish links, the course sits out on a point and is surrounded by water to the north, west, and south, providing endless scenery.

Carne - While not the most well known golf course in the world, the dunes at Carne are certainly some of the most identifiable in golf. While some dunes are larger than others, Carne routes itself in, around, and through this eye-popping dunesland for the entirety of the round. Set out nearly as far west as you can go in Ireland, Carne is an experience you will never forget.

The County Sligo Golf Club - Just minutes from the town of Sligo, the County Sligo Golf Club (also known as Rosses Point) was redesigned by Harry Colt in 1927. It is a key piece of Irish golf history and is often ranked as a top 100 course in the world.

Cruit Island - A different kind of experience, Cruit Island is as off the beaten path as you can get. Tucked away on a peninsula, this 9-hole course is as exposed to the elements as you can get and provides a raw Irish golf experience.

‍Old Tom Morris Links - With names like Old Tom Morris, James Braid, Harry Vardon, and H.S. Colt associated with the OTM Links, you know the course has history. Originally designed by Old Tom, the course sits right along the coast and Tramore Beach overlooking Sheephaven Bay. It puts the full beauty of the Donegal region of Ireland on display while providing an authentic links experience.

Sandy Hills - Designed in 2003 by Pat Ruddy and Frank Casey Sr. and renovated in 2013 by Beau Welling, Sandy Hills is a modern links course that tackled the more turbulent land on property. It sits just to the east of OTM and traverses dunes throughout its routing.

‍St. Patrick's Links - The newest of the courses at the Rosapenna Resort, Tom Doak's St. Patrick's Links has immediately been recognized as one of the finest courses in the world. The course sits in dunesland on the southern end of the resort and puts both Doak's routing prowess and green design abilities on full display.

Portsalon Golf Club - With arguably the most memorable stretch on the entire trip, Portsalon features numerous coastline holes and exposed natural dunes. Its closing stretch is on its inward half but uses terrific land movement and natural hazards for a memorable finish.
