2026 City Nature Challenge at the North LAX Dunes

For over a decade, city dwellers have been looking in their yards, local parks, and parkways for wildlife and recording their presence in the iNaturalist app (via their phones, tablets and/or computers) during the annual City Nature Challenge event.

This will be the Natural Resource Management Team's second year hosting an event for the City Nature Challenge. We invite you to join us in the North LAX Dunes to participate in this event to explore and document urban nature. Our event will take place on Saturday, April 25 from 9:00 AM until Noon, but all your observations in iNaturalist recorded from Friday, April 24 through Monday, April 27 (worldwide) will be included as part of the 2026 City Nature Challenge.

We have an iNaturalist project just for our event that will show all observations made that day in the North LAX Dunes. All the observations for Los Angeles County for the weekend-long event will be shown in this iNaturalist project.

Required liability waivers and optional photo releases will be available on-site.
